Some of the Benefits of #Winter Residential identified by Learning Away:

Greater return on investment - Winter residentials can be more affordable giving schools the benefit of a greater return on investment

Embed learning back in school - Going on winter residentials allows time for learning and development to be embedded back in school.  We know residentials have a long-term impact on students' progress and attainment when followed up on their return to school

77% of pupils said the way they were taught on the residential will help them do better in the subject in question

Increase engagement with learning - Residentials improve students' engagement with learning, including positive changes in behaviour and attendance.  Going on a winter residential will give them a passion for learning which can live on throughout the year

Boost resilience and wellbeing - Residentials improve students' resilience, self-confidence and wellbeing.  Students are more willing to try something new and ask for help, push themselves and participate in class.  Imagine teaching a class with more self-belief for the rest of the school year after going on a winter residential

Exhilarating winter weather - We can't guarantee the weather in the UK at any time of year.  Bad weather is no bad thing on a residential.  Wind, rain and snow are exciting if handled in the correct way.  Wild weather builds character.  There is a greater sense of achievement and more positive relationships developed between staff and students when battling the weather together

Prices starting from £125 per pupil (based on 24 pupils) for a 3 day, 2 night residential

Pick up and drop off included for Cumbrian schools (again based on 24 pupils)

Activities can include; Ghyll Climb or Decent (or Both)/Mountain Walk/Winter Bushcraft/Problem Solving/Canoeing and Kayaking/Archery/Orienteering.  Evening activities can be included for an additional charge
