Hawse End Centre
Hawse End Centre is a large, comfortable country mansion, situated on the western shores of Derwentwater, and 3 miles from Keswick. Ideal for large groups, it sleeps up to 49 people, with ample parking, large grounds and easy access to the lake and Hawse End launch stop.
Housekeeping information
Mealtimes
Generally, groups arrive mid-morning with their own packed lunch. The first meal we provide is at around 5.30pm. Breakfast is at 8am, lunch is variable depending on programme of activities. Washing-up after evening meals is undertaken by the visiting group. We always provide washing up after breakfast so you can get out and do some activities! For an outdoor meal ask us about having a BBQ on our patio.
Key Holder and Fire Alarm responsibilities
There are no Cumbria Outdoors staff on site overnight, so visiting staff are responsible for the security of the building and are given a key for the front door. As part of your induction on arrival you will be shown all the exits, keys, fire alarm procedure and panel and emergency contact numbers.
Wi-Fi
Public Wi-fi is available and the access code will be provided.
Tuck Shop
We have an on-site tuckshop available to use selling items such as pens, torches, key-rings, chocolate, sweets and drinks from £1.
Facilities
The centre has a large fully equipped kitchen and dining room if you are planning to do your own catering, plus the use of the BBQ on the patio (please let us know and bring your own charcoal). There is a comfortable lounge with TV, and the 'classroom', ideal for storage and outdoor clothing. All bedding is provided, but please bring your own towels. All facilities will be explained in your induction.

Once you have booked your stay with us we will email you the room plan and a room list so you can designate people to rooms. Some rooms can have extra mattresses on the floor please ask us when booking.

Hawse End Centre is situated 1.9 miles south of Portinscale on the edge of Derwentwater.
Take the turning off the A66 signposted to Portinscale, just west of the Keswick junction.
Follow the road through Portinscale continuing for approximately 1.9 miles following the signs for Hawse End Centre, passing Derwentwater Marina and on through the woods past two right hand turnings signposted to Ullock and Stair.
The turning to the centres is signposted on the left, directly opposite a double fronted house set in its own grounds. Follow this drive along to the centres, passing a large gated driveway on your left.
There is parking in the grounds for 20 cars
