Big Walks - Education groups
These 'Big Walks' are possible with the help of our qualified and experienced outdoor education leaders.
Perfect for a small group / school to engage with a long-term project, embedding Outdoor Education within the curriculum. This experience gives children the opportunity to develop independence, resilience, communication, teamwork, a sense of responsibility for themselves, others and their surrounding environment and increase in physical and mental health.
Children, staff, and our outdoor education leader develop a close relationship. We aim for you to have the same leader throughout wherever possible, so they can make observations and adaptations for individual's wellbeing and learning.
From planning to delivery, we will work closely with you; from walk organisation (day walks and/ or incorporating overnight stays), administration, transport, to individual requirements for groups/schools, staff or pupils, and if required, provide our delicious homemade traybakes and meals.

Check out some of Bewcastle School's 'Pupil Reflections' from completing Hadrian's Wall in 2019:
I have stayed away from home 3 times
I can tie my own shoelaces
Resilience
Even when I am tired I carry on
Instead of making a fuss over how big the hill was I just got on with it
Responsibility
I know how to look after myself and other people when I am out walking
I organised the washing up
Communication
I talked politely to people from all over the world
I gave clear instructions of how to put up the tent
We all helped to make tea
We walk like a wolf pack and this helps everyone
Physical Health
It has made my legs stronger
It has made me feel fitter - I go out for more walks now
Mental Health
It has made me feel confident - I think I could easily do a big challenge again
Being outside in the fresh air makes me feel good
I look forward to walking every week - I didn't want it to end
I am proud that I have walked from one side of the country to the other
