Cumbria Outdoors and the DofE

Welcome to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Cumbria!

Cumbria County Council (CCC) is an Operational Licence holder of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. This licence allows schools, learning establishments and other approved organisations to deliver DofE programmes to young people under our licence.

Want to find out more about becoming a DofE Centre?

Educational Establishments ("centres") are required to register with the Operating Authority (Cumbria County Council) and to provide a DofE Co-ordinator responsible for running the programme within their organisation. Schools and other establishments in Cumbria can deliver the DofE under CCC's licence free of charge upon meeting the required criteria found here

To take part in the DofE, participants pay a nominal participation fee for which they are allocated a Participation Place within eDofE - the interactive online system that helps young people manage their DofE programme and enables Leaders to monitor their progress. A centre would purchase places required from CCC and charge the participant accordingly - this could also incorporate a cost for the Expedition at their discretion.

Centres delivering DofE under CCCs licence must also use the EVOLVE educational visits online notification and approval system - this is free of charge for DofE Expeditions.
