What is the DofE Award?

Make new friends, discover new talents and interests, develop skills for life and work!
Why do the DofE?

Taking part is a life changing experience that you will never forget! The benefits of achieving an Award at any level are endless, making a difference to yours and other people's lives in your community, and making you mentally and physically stronger and fitter.

Our participants tell us it gives them confidence and resilience, boosts their mental health and wellbeing, and helps them face and overcome personal challenges.

It gives you skills, confidence and an edge over others applying for college, university or a job; they want to see evidence of social skills you have developed through extra-curricular activities, such as communication, commitment, leadership and teamwork. Your Award is a fantastic way to demonstrate and evidence these!

Who can do it?

Any young person age 14-24 can do their DofE - regardless of ability, gender, background, or location, taking part in one of three progressive levels which, when completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

There are four sections to complete at Bronze and Silver level and five at Gold. They involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition and, for Gold, taking part in a residential.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a registered charity, funded by donations, Participation Places, and licences. The charity works with Licensed Organisations (LOs) across the UK to increase opportunities for young people to gain the benefits of doing their DofE.
